Covers Wednesday. 6/01/10.

This is one of my favourite all time covers, and that’s saying a lot. So often artists cover great songs and only dissapoint, but this certainly doesn’t fall into that trap.

Lykke Li is a Swedish singer whose debut album Youth Novels came out in 2008 to critical acclaim, but not much commercial success. Kings of Leon actually approached Lykke Li to ask her to cover a song of her choice, and surely she’s done them proud. Well, it was featured on the ‘Knocked Up’ single they released anyway!

Her version of ‘Knocked Up’ has a chilled electronic feel, and wonderfully samples Caleb’s voice within it to, giving it that boy/girl vibe that suits the lyrics well. If you love the original then I have no doubt you’ll enjoy this. To give you a taste of what her original stuff is like, I’ve put up her great song ‘I’m Good, I’m Gone’ as well as Kings Of Leon’s original of ‘Knocked Up’. Enjoy.
