19-year-old Avigdor Zahner-Isenberg is the creative genius behind this exciting new band from Long Beach California, and if you’re looking for that one new band to listen to, then look no further than Avi Buffalo. A far cry from the monotonous electro indie pop flooding the music market, this California based group are rather different. Fronted by the extremely youthful Avigdor Zahner-Isenberg, the bands new eponymous album has brewed up quite a storm of interest and buzz. With most agreeing that the music is way beyond the band’s years.
This is an album rich in melodic, Marr-esque guitar riffs and in soothing harmonies between Avigdor and Keyboardist Rebecca Coleman. These features run throughout, and best demonstrated in ‘What’s In It For?’ and ‘Jessica’. Overall it is Avigdor’s guitar playing that holds this whole album together, a rarity in contemporary music. A tender and passionate sound, that very few experienced bands could ever emulate.
