Bon Iver‘s debut album For Emma, Forever Ago is not only the album I have listened to the most, but one of my favourite records. A perfect soundtrack for wintry weather and heartbreak, Justin Vernon’s beautiful and emotive vocals coupled with a sensitive and organic sound made for an LP that everyone seemed to fall in love with. Since that album’s release, we have had the equally beautiful EP, Blood Bank and now they are gearing up to release their second full length. The sophomore effort will be self titled and features this track, ‘Calgary’ which is the first full track we’ve heard. It hasn’t had time to fully sink in yet, but my gosh it sounds lovely, with Vernon’s vocals softly introducing us over a synth which slowly develops and becomes a slightly more electronic sounding track than we’re used to from the band. The album comes out on June 20th from 4AD.
