Reptar seem to have no identity problems. As they say, they’re a “sexpopelectro-band from Darthlantaville. We like to party. And boogie. Take off your shoes and come to our party and dance”. That’s a solid description right there.
They’re actually from Georgia, USA, and these guys have been getting a lot of well deserved attention, courtesy of their incredibly fun electro-pop jams and apparently top live shows. A recent showcase at Texas’ SXSW festival seems to have brought the band plenty of British attention lately, and we all know that’s the best kind of attention.
The tracks themselves are stupidly addictive slices of buoyant electro-pop. If you imagined Oracular Spectacular-era MGMT swapping stories with Animal Collective you’d be somewhere close to how they sound. As always, the best way to find out what a band sounds like is to listen, so go forth and check out their soundcloud, below. Reptar’s latest EP, Oblangle Fizz, Y’all, was released recently through Quality Faucet Records.
Oh yeah, and they’re named after the dinosaur from Rugrats. Ha.
