The blogosphere’s been going mad for Givers over the last few weeks. It’s no surprise really, since the New Orleans natives’ debut album In Light (released last week) is laden with the type of songs that you’d want to listen to when you’re on a trampoline as the sun goes down.

‘Up Up Up’ is essential summer listening in the way that The Drums ‘Let’s Go Surfing’ was last year, while ‘Meantime’ builds to a foot-stomping psych-folk beauty and ‘In My Eyes’ showcases a more mellowed, tropicana inflected side of the band. Every song is a wide-eyed, festival-ready blend of melodies and sweet boy-girl harmonies covered in Vampire Weekend and Paul Simon‘s Graceland. Properly fun.

From Joe Abbitt.
