Born and raised in Bristol, Towns are a young four-piece leaning lovingly on British indie traditions of the last twenty or so years. Basically, they’re another bunch doing that retro-cool thing with shoegaze and Britpop. There’s definitely something about this lot however, and with tunes like theirs they should see some return in no time at all.
They released their debut single, ‘Fields’, in May, and rather than coming across like the annual token Oasis rip-off, Towns blend psychedelic riffs with the perfect amount of Jesus and Mary Chain buzzsaw guitars and a chorus catchy enough to see it hollered back at them with ease. It sounds like all the good parts of The Stone Roses, JAMC, and My Bloody Valentine rolled up into one track, with an admittedly Gallagher-esque hazy vocal drawl to top it off. Definitely ones to catch over the festival season.
